When two “big name fans” go head-to-head at a convention, love isn’t the only thing at stake.

Charming, charismatic, and effortlessly popular, Conrad Stewart seems to have it all…but in reality, he’s scrambling to keep his life from tumbling out of control.

Brilliant, guarded, and endlessly driven, Alden Roth may as well be the poster boy for perfection…but even he can’t help but feel a little broken inside.

When these mortal enemies are stuck together on a cross-country road trip to the biggest fan convention of their lives, their infamous rivalry takes a backseat as an unexpected connection is forged. Yet each has a reason why they have to win the upcoming Odyssey gaming tournament and neither is willing to let emotion get in the way―even if it means giving up their one chance at something truly magical.

♦ Personal Thought ♦

I’m clueless about gaming – and this book covered quite a lot of it – so pretty much escaped my notice but I could follow the gist of the story, even the one concerning the game (it’s an accomplishment for me, so let me be proud of it a bit 😉). Those of you who enjoy reading about road trip might want to pick up this book.

Although it’s much more than a road trip romance; CONVENTIONALLY YOURS is a journey of two young adults with opposing background and personalities. I was slow warming up to the characters of this story as my first impression of Alden and Conrad wasn’t exactly glowing. It was only when the road trip began that I started to feel… something for these young men. The story read as a journey not only related to the trip they took but on a psychological level. The boys were getting to know one another better and also themselves and the path they wanted to continue on. Even this reader, who started on feeling somewhat impatient with them then growing to like and finally rooting for them while watching (reading) them growing into themselves – getting deeply involved there. For me this is the highlight of the story, how both Alden and Conrad learning and becoming adult every step of the way – romantically but also individually.

CONVENTIONALLY YOURS is the first installment to Albert’s new “True Colors” series. That bore a rather catchy and potential to more stories to come in the series. Considering the other members of the boys old club still haven’t stepped under the spotlight, I had a hunch the sequel might involved either of them. 😉
