synopsis

Chris Emmett has a talent for screwing up and landing on his feet. As a SEAL, he managed to evade bullets and court-martials alike. As an FBI agent, he dodged danger and disciplinary action—right up until he didn’t.

With his career and freedom hanging in the balance, he’ll do whatever it takes to clean the slate… including an off-the-books deep cover solo mission.

The objective: infiltrate the Hive, a complex crime syndicate operating on the dark web, and find out who’s trying to kill Piker, the organization’s enigmatic and strangely alluring Mob boss.

The moment he’s pulled into the Hive, Chris enters a world where no one is what they seem, including the man he’s there to protect. Lines blur between moral and wrong, legal and criminal, ally and foe, and—as Piker’s seductive magnetism draws Chris in—straight and queer.

Chris is running out of time to stop a killer. He has dangerous feelings for a dangerous man, and the deeper he moves into the realms of modern day organized crime, the less he knows and the fewer people he can trust.

And that’s before he learns the truth about Piker’s assassin.

This 104,000 word book is part of CRIMINAL DELIGHTS. Each novel can be read as a standalone and contains a dark M/M romance. For other books in the collection, please see: Criminal Delights Listopia

Warning: These books are for adult readers who enjoy stories where lines between right and wrong get blurry. High heat, twisted and tantalizing, these are not for the fainthearted.

♦ Personal Thought ♦

I can count on one hand the number of time I willingly read books with (one of the) MC happened to be a crime lord or part of organized crime. But I grabbed at the chance for reading this book when the author announced it because:
– I’m intrigued by that blurb
– that cover doubly wet my appetite
– it’s an LA Witt’s story!!
And man, am I glad I took
the chance because I love Blood & Bitcoin!

Part of “Criminal Delights” series that can be read as a standalone, BLOOD & BITCOIN told the story of Chris and Piker; one a former SEAL and disgraced FBI agent, the other son of a reclusive billionaire and a crime lord of the notorious crime syndicate Hive that specialized in manipulation of cryptocurrency values. It’s a clash of fierce personality of two deadly foes!!

Narrated in two alternate POVs, the story started practically at a run and didn’t let up throughout the pages. Even for someone as clueless as me as to monetary issues and the jargon of cyber security matters here, I could still enjoy the book because the characters were such a force and drive of the story. The chemistry between Chris and Piker were off the chart, the UST felt like it’s about to burst every time they as simple as caught a glance of each other. Yet these two kept secrets that would not only jeopardize the budding affair between them but putting their live in danger. The word play mixed with the ever-changing game plan of the plot got me on the edge of my seat.

Even though it’s not a smooth sailing for me – I got the occasional urge to whack Chris for his hot-headed carelessness, especially in pinpointing whom to trust and whom to heck no they were fishy as all get out doubt – overall BLOOD & BITCOIN hit the right notes for me. Yes, it’s up there on the steamy, smexy side with the sexual gymnastics Chris and Piker busy with once they got around to it – hotter than my usual preference. But the fast-paced, action-packed, cleverly woven storyline spellbound me. I got to hand it to LA Witt, she had a way to spin a tale and had fun plaguing the characters through harm bodily and emotionally throughout the story. Well done!
