A sexy new M/M romance from New York Times Bestselling author Tessa Bailey

When CEO Renner Bastion walks into a room, everyone keeps their distance. Well, everyone but the sarcastic, tattooed, Boston-bred security guard whose presence has kept Renner in New Jersey longer than intended. As if the unwanted attraction isn’t unsettling enough, Renner finds out his protector isn’t as unavailable as originally thought.

Milo Bautista just came out to his wealthy, ultra-confident boss, a man he secretly respects and admires…in more ways than he’ll admit. Worldly, experienced Renner would never look in his direction, let alone share some of that confidence he wears like a cloak, so Milo has set his sights on someone else to be his first.

Until Renner offers him private lessons in seduction…

Each book in the Made in Jersey series is a standalone, full-length story that can be enjoyed out of order.

♦ Personal Thought ♦

I just need to get it out first: the heat-o-meter of the story reached the hot peri peri. Take that as a welcoming info or caution if you will, I just want to put that upfront.

The story evolved around Renner Bastion – a wealthy entrepreneur – and his factory’s security guard, Milo Bautista. One an out gay man and the other just came to realize his attraction the same sex. An incident had Milo admitted to have feeling to someone and bargain with Renner to help him getting comfortable and confident to act on that feeling. Of course you could guess how and who the journey ended out with.

I quite enjoyed the sarcasm battles the men threw at each other, some of the conversation and internal thoughts are rather funny too. I even surprised myself to enjoy quite a number of steamy scenes here; I mean I’m usually not a fan of too much sex in books. Credit to the author who write those enjoyable and entertaining scenes. Pun intended! 🙂

However, the book allotted center stage to Milo and Renner, I wish it gave clearer background story on both men’s past. Especially for Renner, given that past had made him the way he was.

Wound Tight is the fourth installment on Tessa Bailey‘s Made In Jersey series. Perhaps that was why – having three preceding titles – the start of the book felt like being plunge in the midst of ongoing story. I could understand the gist of what’s going on, but still, it felt like a bunch of crucial details being left out.

Now, one could blame me for stubbornly jumping into the middle of an ongoing series. My mistake, I guess. But even with the series I follow from the start, I appreciate when it’s also able to be read as a standalone. For this series, I should at least read Worked Up beforehand, as it seems Renner – who was stepbrother of the heroine there – made quite an (unfavorable) impression there.

So I would suggest anyone who hasn’t read the series in chronological order to learn from my mistake. Stop, go back and read book #1. 🙂

For those who are as stubborn as me: you can enjoy the ride. If nothing, this is a steamy love story with little angst and predictable happy ending. But happy ending no less.
